Persistence & Passion
Todd Greene is the inventor of Headblade.®  Going bald at an early age, he came up with the idea of a razor with a handle and wheels to shave his head. He approached the two big corporate razor giants and was rejected by both. He persisted with his idea because he was so passionate about it and knew others would be interested in his product.

Like many entrepreneurs he started out selling one-by-one on his website. Then he got the brilliant idea to start selling “add-ons” – so that $10 order now became a $50 order. He is selling Headwipes, shaving creams, apparel, kits and more. This is genius! Think about how you might do this with the products you are selling online. Find out what your customers are buying elsewhere that compliment what you are selling and create a package deal for them.

Todd also starting selling to high profile sports figures and entertainers – yowza! Now that’s a way to really spread the word fast, isn’t it? Then he started engaging the users by incorporating the Headbladers® page on his site. There is also a Picture of the Month, User of the Month and Letter of the Month – all brilliant ways to speak to a new customer and retain the loyalty of those currently using Headblades. How might you develop something like this for your website and customers?

Can’t forget philanthropy – 30% of the products sold on a particular page go to St. Baldrick’s the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research. Thousands of volunteers shave their heads in solidarity of children with cancer. For more info go to StBaldricks.org. How are you giving back? Are you getting lots of ideas from Todd’s website?

Hold on to your hair – there’s more! An IPhone App called Shave My Head! Isn’t that incredible? You can shave anyone’s head right from your IPhone to see what you or they look like without hair. I just can’t wait to see what Todd comes up with next. He may not have any hair, but he’s certainly made a handsome profit from his invention and brilliant marketing strategies. Is there something you really have a passion for and with a niche market? Then be persistent and realize there will be so many people that will benefit from your product or service. There are certainly a lot of shaved heads that are grateful to Todd Greene!

Create a Book
I have seen so many books this summer that friends have created from their travels. It’s so easy to upload your photos and write some text or captions to go with them. You’ll end up with a beautiful hard cover book, complete with jacket cover. This is a great keepsake for yourself or makes a nice gift to give someone. You can make your book public or private on Blurb’s web site. Create a book on business or what you did on your summer vacation! Check out Blurb

Personally Speaking
Google is celebrating it’s 12th Birthday and The Web Muse & Co. is also in it’s 12th year. Do you remember what you were doing 12 years ago? So much has happened with the Internet, websites, social media and technology in general. I remember when AOL was the top search engine and even further back when Prodigy was what everyone used. I learned DOS on a PC and was a PC user for over a decade, then I switched to a MAC a couple years ago. I love it! Google has changed the world and the amount of information at our fingertips is astounding. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed and other times I wonder what’s next? We live in exciting and challenging times for sure. Here’s to more fun adventures in researching and learning! ~ Anita
