Sites I Like
On average, I visit about 80 different websites every day. It’s refreshing to come across sites that have nice designs in addition to good functionality. Thought I’d mention a couple here:
Melissa Biggs This is a nice, clean design that encompasses 3 different professions for one person – Actress, Speaker and Designer. The photography is excellent and the filmstrip idea is nice. If you’re a speaker, take a look at how she’s organized additional navigation when you scroll down on the page. The social media icons are arranged nicely without being too much. If you go to the Press page, there’s a magnifying glass icon, click on that and the whole scanned article comes up with click-to-enlarge images.
Tom’s Shoes This is a very nice, easy to navigate e-commerce site. There are good images that are easy to click-to-enlarge and in 3 clicks your order is placed. The philanthropic message of donating one pair of shoes for every pair sold is awesome. The email signup is on the left (so it’s on every page) and also on the right on the home page. There’s a lot of information on this site, yet it is laid out in such an organized way. It’s easy to find what you want to buy and get involved in the movement if you choose. The community page has a video with social media icons – I like that! The Press page is very well done. The only change I’d make there is to have them in chronological order with most current being first.
By looking at what is working for other sites, you might get some ideas on how to enhance YOUR site!
SKYPE
I just learned how to use Skype. It’s a free phone service and if you’ve got a web cam – then we can see each other while talking. Some of my friends use it to communicate with family and colleagues in other countries. I can see several business applications like conference calling. Sometimes people like to SEE the person they are dealing with virtually so that is another plus. If you’d like to communicate via Skype sometime, just let me know.
Which Web Design Company
Many thanks to Dr. Jeff Ward, Victoria Davenport, Mickey Baxter-Spade and Ann Makofski for writing testimonials for us on this site. Would you like to have your site featured with a testimonial? Just email us and we’ll add you in. OR, if you prefer to give us an audio testimonial, call our 24 hour hotline at 214.615.6505 ext 8456 and we’ll add it to our website right away!
Customers Given Too Many Choices are 10x Less Likely to Buy
http://ow.ly/flIh Present only 3 to 6 choices at a time. (No less than 3. No more than 6). On a website presenting too many choices can be overwhelming and confusing to the visitor. When you concentrate on a smaller number of items it is easier to market and you’ll sell more.
Alternative Treatments for the Disabled
I applaud Chanda and her sister for all they do! Watch the documentary and testimonials here. If you’ve ever wondered if one person can really make a difference – the answer is YES one person can truly make a difference in many lives.
Printed Newsletters

Personally Speaking
I enjoyed volunteering in the bookstore at the ISSSEEM conference in Denver last month. Did you know that Deepak Chopra has authored over 50 books and is working on another? WOW! I met lots of interesting scientists, authors and attendees. It was very enlightening!
It was a fun getaway to Santa Fe with some girlfriends in June. The highlight of the trip was 10,000 Waves. Beautifully landscaped Japanese gardens, waterfall, pond with Koi goldfish, healing hot springs, sauna, relaxation room and massage. Add this to your list of “must-dos” next time you visit the “city different”. I give it 10 aaaaahhhs!
Hooray! One of my sisters got tickets to the Antiques Road Show in Denver, so my mom and I are going later this month. I’m sure it will be quite the experience. Not sure which two items I will bring. Do you have something you’d like to get appraised or know more history about it? Be the first to let me know and I’ll take it along for you. ~ Anita |
